A nationally certified professional teaches you the truth about choosing a treatment

Hello. This is YUE Head Acupuncture and Massage. We offer specialized treatments for the head, including "head spa," "dry head spa," and "acupuncture and massage."

This time, I'd like to broaden the scope a little and talk about how to determine the right treatment for your body, based on a consultation from someone who has received a massage or kneading treatment for ailments such as stiff shoulders, back pain, or general fatigue, only to end up feeling worse.

■ What constitutes a "massage"?

There are many different types of treatments commonly referred to as "massage."

  • Massage

  • Chiropractic

  • Lymphatic massage

  • Oil massage

  • head spa

  • Dry head spa etc.

Both are popular relaxation services that are said to be "comfortable" and "relieve fatigue."

However, under Japanese law, only practitioners who hold the national qualification of "anma massage and shiatsu therapist" can officially call themselves "massage therapists."

Those with this qualification have studied Oriental medicine, anatomy, physiology, etc. for more than three years and are able to perform massage as a medical or therapeutic procedure.

■ Every treatment has its pros and cons

Of course, there are also many experienced and skilled therapists working in the fields of massage and relaxation, which do not require qualifications .

If you are actually receiving the treatment for relaxation purposes, and it feels good and comfortable to you, then that could be said to be the right choice.

However, if you have any of the following concerns, you should be a little careful.

  • Chronic shoulder and back pain

  • Muscle tension and numbness

  • Headaches, insomnia, and autonomic nervous system disorders

  • Body fatigue/pain after treatment

In such cases, simply massaging and washing the area often does not improve the situation .

■ Why some people feel better after massage and others feel worse

A person who consulted us said, "My whole body was tired, so I went to get a massage, but the pain spread and I ended up feeling even worse."

This is not an uncommon story.

If you fail to address the root cause of the discomfort, or if you apply strong stimulation without understanding the condition of the muscles and nerves, the symptoms may actually worsen .

■ How do I choose the treatment that's right for me?

"Massage," "kneading," "lymphatic massage," "chiropractic," and "head spa" -- each treatment has its advantages, but here are some points to consider when choosing one.

✅ If you want to relax and refresh

→ It's OK to choose based on comfort. It's best to choose a salon with a therapist you get along with and a good atmosphere.

✅ For chronic symptoms, improving constitution, and preventing recurrence

→ Treatment by a nationally qualified massage therapist (such as an anma massage therapist or acupuncturist) is safe. It is necessary to identify the cause and take an approach that will improve your body from the inside.

■ YUE will provide consultation as a "brain expert"

Our shop specializes in head spa and acupuncture, but customers who come to us often tell us about ailments such as "My shoulders and back hurt," "I can't sleep," or "My whole body feels heavy."

In such cases, we propose treatments that consider the connection of the entire body from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine and balance the entire body starting from the head .

If now,

  • I don't know where to go

  • Even after receiving a massage, the pain returns immediately

  • I want to know which treatment is right for me

If you have any of the above concerns, please feel free to contact us. We will work together to find a method that suits you, within your limits.
