A Simple Look at Eastern Medicine and Why Taking Care of Your Head Matters

Hello, This is the secretary of YUE.

Today, we’d like to talk about a word often heard in Eastern medicine: “Ki” (energy).

When people hear the word “Ki,” some may imagine something spiritual or mysterious. But in fact, we use this word very naturally in everyday life.

In Japanese, many common words include “Ki”:genki (feeling well), yaruki (motivation), byoki (illness), kibun (mood), kizukai (consideration)…When you think about it, “Ki” is simply a way to describe how we are feeling — both physically and mentally.

Here is a simple example.

When you massage your own shoulders, it often doesn’t feel that relaxing. But when someone else does it for you, you may suddenly feel your body soften and your mind calm down.

If it were only about strength, you should be able to control it better yourself. Yet, many people feel deeper relaxation when touched by another person’s hands. In Eastern medicine, this difference is often explained as the flow of Ki — how smoothly your energy is moving.

While not everything in Eastern medicine can be measured by modern science, acupuncture points (called tsubo in Japanese) are officially recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO),and are used in medical care around the world.

It may be invisible, but many people can clearly feel the difference.

When your head and body are gently adjusted, not only muscle tension but also your mood and concentration can improve. You may suddenly feel lighter, clearer, and more refreshed.

At YUE Head Acupuncture & Massage, we of course work on muscles and blood circulation, but we also value creating a deeply relaxed state where your whole body can reset.

If you often feel:

  • My head always feels heavy.

  • I can’t switch off my thoughts.

  • I just don’t feel quite right.

instead of telling yourself it’s just in your head, why not try starting your reset from the head?

When your circulation and balance improve, both your body and mind can feel surprisingly light again.
